Birth

Blanche R. Beebe was born 19 Jul 1917, the daughter of Charles Edgar Beebe (October 29, 1889 - January 8, 1986) and Ina Weidman Lendrum (May 20, 1884 - April 1, 1978). Blanche's middle name appears as both Rita and Weidman. On deeds, she signed her name as Blanche R. Roycroft. She had no brothers or sisters.

Education

Miss Beebe is a music major at Hartwick, and has served for four years in the a Capella choir, accompanying the choir soloists on the piano. A versatile pianist, Miss Beebe has been a member of various college music groups during all of her years at Hartwick. She was recently chosen as a Hartwick representative for "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities," the highest honor a senior can obtain.[1] Blanche recieved her Masters degree from Potsdam State.[2]

Oneonta - Miss Blanche Beebe, Berne, a senior at Hartwick College has earned a position on the staff of reporters for "Hilltops," weekly student publication at the Oneonta institution. Miss Beebe will handle the music news of the undergraduates, according to George J. Waters, newly elected editor in chief.

Blanche married William James Roycroft (May 12, 1915 - September 5, 1965)[3][4] on 19 Aug 1943 at the Reformed Church, Knox, Albany, NY.[5] James (his usual name) was the son of William J. Roycroft (April 6, 1878 - April 1967)[4]. of Richville, St. Lawrence Co. NY [6] and Anna Blackmer or Blackmore (1890 - October 17, 1928)[4]. James' dates need to be confirmed. There were no children.

Blanche Rita Beebe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Beebe of Berne, and William James Roycroft, son of William Roycroft of Richville, were united in marriage on Thursday, August 19, at 2 o'clock. the the Knox reformed church. Rev. Norman E. VanderHart, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony.

The bride's gown was of white embroidered organdie over white silk, and she carried a colonial bouquet.

The brides' attendant was Miss Doretta Voigt of Altamont, who wore a gown of pink net over pink silk, and also carried a colonial bouquet.

The bridegroom's attendant was Charles Walker of Richville. The flower girls were Marna VanderHart, who was dressed in blue, and Marjorie Lendrum, who wore a peach-colored gown. Ushers at the church were Harold Lendrum and Reid Lainhart, cousins of the bride.

Wedding music was played by Mrs. Chester Quay and Miss Beryl MacMillen. John Yarmchuk sang "Beloved It Is Morn" and "I Love You Truly." After the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.

The bride is a graduate of Berne-Knox Central school and Hartwick college, and taught English and music at the Richville Union school. Mr. Roycroft is a graduate of Richville Union school and is employed with the Richville garage.

After a wedding trip in Canada, the couple will reside in Richville.

Blanche died June 12, 1998 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.[2]

BLANCHE B. ROYCROFT
KNOX -- Blanche Beebe Roycroft, 80, died Friday, June 12, 1998 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Blanche was born in Knox and had lived in Washingtonville, NY for many years before moving back to Knox several years ago. She had received her Masters degree from Potsdam State and was an elementary school vocal music teacher in Washingtonville for many years. Survivors include several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, James Roycroft and her parents, Charles and Ina Beebe. Funeral services will be held at the Quaker Street Bible Church, Quaker St., NY on Monday at 10 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Quaker St. Bible Church, Box 231A, Maple Ave., Delanson, NY 12053.

Blanche R. Roycroft sold 66 Beebe Road, Knox, formerly Lot 65-K to Steve and Lynn Plue of November 2, 1990. She inherited the house from her father, Charles E. Beebe, who bought the house and 120 acres from M. May Pangburn on October 3, 1914.
