Birth
Sarah Posson was born March 25, 1838, at Gallupville, Wright, Schoharie County, and she was a twin to her brother Sanford Posson. She was one of the ten children of William Posson and Anna West.
Marriage & Children
Sarah married Miner Deitz (son of John Jost P. Deitz and Anna Maria Bassler) on November 20, 1862. Sarah and Miner had three sons, all born in the Town of Knox.

- Courtney P. Deitz b. July 14, 1875
Sarah and Miner were married 37 years until Miner’s death in 1909, and they had enjoyed 10 of their 11 grandchildren by then, the first two of whom were the twins of their oldest son, Ellis. Those twins were named Sarah and Miner. Sarah also enjoyed socializing and traveling, and visited her sister Samantha in Olathe, Kansas. Even after Sarah and Miner moved to Albany by 1900, she often returned to visit friends and family in the Berne area. Sarah attended a Posson family reunion on August 16, 1902, at Schoharie Park, where she was one of six Posson siblings in attendance. After the death of Miner, Sarah first lived with her son Charles and family in Schoharie, and then with her son Ellis and family in Schenectady.
Death
While living at the Schenectady home of her son Ellis, Sarah died at 83 years old, on March 2, 1922. She was buried in the Deitz family plot at the Old Stone Fort Cemetery in Schoharie.
Obituary
Published in Schenectady Gazette March 4, 1922 : Mrs. Sarah P. Deitz of 13 Pennsylvania ave died Thursday night after six weeks’ illness of rheumatism. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock in Schoharie at the home of her son, Charles Deitz, and after the service conducted by the minister of the Schoharie church, burial will be in Schoharie. Mrs. Deitz was born in Berne. She had lived in this city a number of years. She leaves three sons, Cortney of Albany, Ellis of this city, Charles of Schoharie, and one sister, Mrs. Julia Finch of Township. Her husband died some time ago. She was the daughter of William Posson.
