Marriage & Children
In about 1911, Luella married Frank Arthur Wright, who owned a farm in the town of Berne. On April 9, 1922, Luella had their only child, Florence Grace Wright.
Luella was a farmer's wife as such she performed many farm chores and as well she was responsible for her home and family. There are several photographs of her operating farm equipment.
Luella was raised by her paternal grandparents in Rensselaerville. While she was separated from her mother and sisters, they apparently saw each other frequently.
She married at 21 years of age to a farmer in Berne. As a farm wife, she actively took part in the farm chores including using farm equipment to plant and harvest. The family raised chickens which added to her chores. She canned vegetables and fruit that the family raised.
After her paternal grandfather Amaziah Bassler died in 1912, her paternal grandmother Mary Crippen Bassler came to live with Luella and her husband. Mary continued to live with them until her death September 25, 1917.
Luella attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne.
Luella and her husband Frank grew dinner plate dahlias.
Luella and Frank traveled extensively generally within the local area, as they enjoyed nature and photography.
