Charles Schermerhorn was born in Albany County at about 1841, to Aaron Schermerhorn (B. 1817, D. bef 1865) and Sarah Stafford (B. 1822, D. unk).
Marriage & Children
He married in New York City at about 1881, Louise ______ who was born in September of 1850. They had one daughter, Elizabeth C. Schermerhorn, who was born in June of 1886. 
Charles was a farmer. Later in life, he was a Real Estate agent.

After the Civil War, Charles returned to Berne where he lived with his widowed mother and his siblings.
He died on October 2, 1914 at New York City. His widow, Louise, received her pension from his Civil War service on October 31, 1914.
