Luther Niles was born on October 8, 1830 at Rensselaerville. He was the son of Samuel Niles and Ruth Tompkins.^[1]

Education

He was educated in the common schools.^[1]

Occupation

He was a farmer and now owns the 200 acre farm that was once his father’s. He was a Democrat in politics and has been assessor nine years. He was a member of Cascade Lodge, No. 42, F. & A. M.^[1]

Marriage & Children

Luther married Minerva Tanner of Rensselaerville in 1857. They had 3 children:

Mary Niles^[1]

After the death of Minerva, Luther married Mary Winins^[1] of Durham, Greene County, and they had three children:
