Birth

Luther Niles was born on October 8, 1830 at Rensselaerville. He was the son of Samuel Niles and Ruth Tompkins.[1]

Education

He was educated in the common schools.[1]

Occupation

He was a farmer and now owns the 200 acre farm that was once his father’s. He was a Democrat in politics and has been assessor nine years. He was a member of Cascade Lodge, No. 42, F. & A. M.[1]

Marriage & Children

Luther married Minerva Tanner of Rensselaerville in 1857. They had 3 children:

  • Henry T Niles[1]
  • Libbie Niles[1]
  • Mary Niles[1]

After the death of Minerva, Luther married Mary Winins[1] of Durham, Greene County, and they had three children:

  • Henry Niles[1]
  • Samuel Niles [1]
  • Luther Niles, deceased[1]
