Marshall J. Clickman was born Oct. 27, 1917 in Knox, son of the late Newton and Arlie Kimball Clickman, and was a lifelong resident. His sister was:

Marshall Clickman was a self-employed dairy farmer for 22 years and worked in sales at Helderberg Bluestone in East Berne for 11 years.

In 1973, Marshall J. Clickman established the Clickman Insurance Agency, Inc., and was active in the business until his death.

Marshall J. Clickman was a member and elder of the Knox Reformed Church, and a member of the former Mr. and Mrs. Club of the church. Mr. Clickman always had a garden until the last few years, and was active at his home until he suffered a stroke Jan. 19. He was a member and past treasurer of the Knox Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Helderberg Kiwanis Club and the Knox Historical Society, and a former member of the town of Knox Republican Committee. He served as one of the original town supervisors, in 1945. He was a member of the board of the Prospect Hill Cemetery and served as president of the board for many years. He was secretary- treasurer of the Bethlehem and New Scotland Mutual Insurance Co. for many years, and served on the Community Mutual Insurance Co. board of directors.

Marriage & Children

Marshall J. Clickman married Virginia M. Stevens about 1944. Virginia was the daughter of Daniel Webster Stevens and Edna Mae Quay. Their child was:

  • Leonard M. and his wife Marie Clickman of Niverville (Columbia Co.);

Death

Marshall J. Clickman, 81, died Monday (January 24, 1999) at St. Peter's Hospital following a short illness.

KNOX— Marshall J. Clickman, 81, died Monday (January 24, 1999) at St. Peter's Hospital following a short illness.

Survivors include Virginia Stevens Clickman, his wife of 55 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard M. and Marie Clickman of Niverville (Columbia Co.); a grandson, Paul L. Clickman, and his wife, Traci, of Kinderhook (Columbia Co.); and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A sister, Hazel E. Cummings, died last June. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Knox Reformed Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox Reformed Church, P.O. Box 86, Knox, NY 12107.
