Jacob married Susan (Susannah) Allen who was born on July 27, 1821, a daughter of John Allen and Anna Eva Weidman, on January 1, 1846. They lived in Middleburgh. They had the following children:

  • Margaret Haverly b. June 15, 1857 at Middleburgh, Schoharie Co., NY[4]

Death

Jacob died on November 19, 1864[2] of typhoid fever[4] at the Second Army Corps Hospital in City Point[2], Va. He was buried at City Point National Cemetery in grave number F1164.[2] Susanna died on May 29, 1889.
