Walter was born on Oct. 1, 1925, son of the late Patrick and Mary (McPolin) Boland.[1]


Marriage and Children

Walter married wife Patricia of 51 years and they had six children, Eileen, Caryn, Tina, Peter, Claire, and Terence Boland.[1]


Occupation

Mr. Boland was a sergeant in the N.Y.P.D. He retired after 30 years of service.[1]


Military Service

Walter was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy.[1]

Death

Walter J., 80 years, of Preston Hollow, NY, formerly of Rockaway Beach, NY, died peacefully at home Friday, April 28, 2006.[1]


Burial

Interment was in the Potter Hollow Cemetery.[1]

BOLAND-Walter J., 80 years, of Preston Hollow, NY, formerly of Rockaway Beach, NY, died peacefully at home Friday, April 28, 2006. He was born on Oct. 1, 1925, son of the late Patrick and Mary (McPolin) Boland. Walter was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy. He was a retired sergeant from the N.Y.P.D. after 30 years of service, he was an avid hunter and a lover of nature and a communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, NY.. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Vincent. Survived by his wife Patricia of 51 years and six children, Eileen (Donald) Waldman, Caryn (Charlie) Strining, Tina (Jeff) Neilsen, Peter (Irene) Roland, Claire (David) Palmer, Terence (Dawn) Boland and twelve grandchildren, Andrew Boland Wennerstrom, Lisa and Eric Waldman, Cristin and Ryan Strining, Paige Boland and Andrew and Eric Kaufer, Kiara, Patrick, and Sean Neilsen, and Gavin Boland. Funeral service will be Thurs. 10:15AM from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY with Mass of Christian Burial 11AM from Our Lady of Knock Shrine. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed. 2 to 4 & 7 to 9PM. Interment will be in the Potter Hollow Cemetery.
