Mustered in: November 19, 1862. Mustered out: July 15, 1865

At Cold Harbor it was in the assaulting column, and succeeded in carrying the portion of the enemy's works in its immediate front, but with a heavy loss in men and officers. Seven officers of the regiment were killed in that assault. The regiment, however, was obliged to fall back, owing to the failure at other points of the line, having lost 16 killed, 59 wounded and 82 missing.

Among the missing:

  • Addison Bouton of Berne was a 27 year old Private of Company H when he was wounded on June 3, 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA and taken prisoner. He was held at Andersonville, GA until August 16, 1864 when he was released. He was discharged for his disability on August 21, 1865 at the Mower Hospital at Philadelphia, PA.
