Life & Death

Jessie Tallman was born about 1904, in Medusa, the first of fourteen children born to Fletcher D. Tallman and Alice W. Freleigh. She died sometime before 1910[1] of Pneumonia.[2]

Birth

Martha Tallman was born on July 14, 1906, in Medusa, to Fletcher D, Tallman and Alice W. Freleigh.

Education

She attended school at the Sayre District School in Rensselaerville.

Occupation

She was a lifelong homemaker.

Marriage & Children

In 1926, when she was 19 years old, Martha married Elmer J. Van Alstyne and they had one child, Virginia. They lived in the Delmar and Feura Bush Feura Bush, Albany Co., NY area for most of her life.

Death

Martha died at 91 years of age on November 05, 1997, and is buried in South Bethlehem, Albany Co., NY with Elmer.

FEURA BUSH -- Martha Van Alstyne, 91 years, of Feura Bush, NY, died peacefully at the University Heights Nursing Home in Albany, NY on November 5, 1997. She was born in Medusa, NY on July 14, 1906. She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Alice (Freleigh) Tallman. She was a life long homemaker being predeceased by her husband, Elmer J. Van Alstyne in 1968. Surviving are her beloved daughter Virginia Becker & her husband, Frank of Voorheesville, NY; her loving granddaughter, Debbie Storm and her husband, Kenny of Waterford, NY and her loving great-grandsons, Ronald LaFavour, Jr. and Larry LaFavour, both of Waterford, NY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several of her brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be Saturday 11 a.m. from the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bethlehem, NY.
