Birth

Gerret was born at about 1767 in New York, a son of Nicholas Gerret and Margaret Groesbeck Marselis[1]. His known siblings were:

  • Anna Merseles[1]
  • Maria Merseles[1]
  • Nancy Merseles (named in Gerret’s will)
  • Margaret Merseles(named in Gerret’s will)

Marriage & Children

On November 26, 1799 at the Dutch Reformed Church of New Salem, he married Eva Ball who was born on April 20, 1780 in Berne, NY, a daughter of Hendrick Ball and Maria Elizabeth Dietz. [1] Their known children were:

  • Gerardus Groesbeck Merseles was born on January 12, 1801. He married Catherine Weidman[1]
  • Peter Merseles was born on May 22, 1803, he married Betsey Weidman[1] (Peter was not named in the will)
  • Margaret Merseles was born on March 13, 1805, she married Jacob D. Settle[1]
  • Maria Elizabeth Merseles was born on June 10, 1807, she married William Wolford[1]


Death

Eva died on March 14, 1810. Gerret died on January 16, 1832. [1] Their place of burial in not known.
