Ella married Charles Avery Warner 20 December 1900 at the age of 16. They had nine children:

- Barton Martin 22 May 1908
- Ada Elizabeth 15 September 1912
- Marguerite Irene 6 October 1914
- Berdena Rachel 28 May 1917
- Elsie May 30 Jan 1919
- Charles Bernard 10 April 1920
- Marie Vera 5 August 1922
The youngest seven were adopted out of the family and given new names (Marie Vera became Grace Marie Bell) They all kept in touch.
Ella and Charles divorced shortly after the children were adopted out around 1927.
Ella moved to California and married Charles Erroll Merriman. They had two children:
- June Irene 31 October 1925
- Martin Erroll 4 May 1929
Ella was reunited with her adopted out children when she came back east to visit with her eldest daughter Editha in 1958.
Death
1 November 1974 of stomach cancer. She passed quietly in her sleep at 3AM.
