Birth

John was born in Greenwich on April 7, 1929, the son of the late Frederick and Elsie (Olson) Walters.[1]

Occupation

Mr. Walters was employed as a laborer with the Albany Co. Highway Dept. in Westerlo until his retirement.[1]

Military Service

John was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.[1]

Death

John passed away at his home in Westerlo on July 17, 2008.[1]

Burial

Funeral services were held July 21 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, N.Y. Interment was in the Rensselaerville Cemetery.[1]

John L. Walters, 79, of Westerlo, N.Y., a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, passed away at his home on July 17, 2008. He was born in Greenwich on April 7, 1929, the son of the late Frederick and Elsie (Olson) Walters. He was employed as a laborer with the Albany Co. Highway Dept. in Westerlo until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW Post in Connecticut. Walters was predeceased by his companion of 26 years, Helen Lewandoski; four brothers, David, Richard, George and Fred Walters, and a sister, Elsie Nebel. Surviving are two brothers, Charles and Robert Walters; three sisters, Ethel Brower, Irene Scheck and Helen White; three stepsons, Wayne and Henry Lewandoski and Joseph Lewin, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held July 21 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, N.Y. Interment was in the Rensselaerville Cemetery.
