SCOTIA -- Minnie I. Strevell, 99, of the Baptist Retirement Center, formerly of Westerlo, died Tuesday in the center.
Mrs. Strevell was born in South Berne. She was a former public school teacher in many of the one-room schools in Berne, Knox and Westerlo areas. She was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church in Westerlo.
She was the widow of Carey D. Strevell.
Survivors include two daughters, Elsie Morrison of East Glenville and Betty Lockwood of Greenville; a brother, Earl Skinner of Ravena; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville.
Burial will be in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.
A calling hour will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

WESTERLO — Minnie L. Strevell, 99, formerly of Westerlo, died April 2 a t the Baptist Retirement Renter in Scotia.
She was born April 21, 1896, daughter of the late William and Harriet Filkins Skinner. Mrs. Strevell taught in many one-room schools in Berne, Knox and Westerlo. She was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church in Westerlo.
Survivors include two daughtersa Elsie Morrison of East Glenville and Betty Lockwood of Greenville; three grandchildren — Stephen Lockwood of Greenville, Lynette (Lockwood) Malloch of Annapolis, Md., and Ellen Ziemianski of Niskayuna; four great-grandchildren — Quinn Lockwood, Nigel, Ian and Trevor Malloch; a brother, Earl Skinner of Ravena; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Carey D. Strevell, is deceased, as are three sisters — Nettie Filkins, Fannie and Leonie Gallup; and two brothers, Harold and Lewis Skinner.
The Rev. Donald Lyon will perform a funeral service at 1 p.m. today at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. Calling hours will start at noon. Burial will be in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.
