Ward, John Gilbert
Birth
John Gilbert Ward was born in Westerlo on December 18, 1849.
He was the son of the Rev. Gilbert Ward, a retired and honored minister of the Methodist church.[1]
Education
He was educated in public schools and then attended the Fort Edward Institute.
Occupation
John was a dealer and shipper of coal, grain, feed and fruit and this business, which operated in Ravena, Albany Co, was known as the Ward Coal and Fruit Company. He was for a time a director of the First National Bank of Albany. He was also the President of the Silver Creek Farm Company of Westerlo and the World Mining Company of Utah. In 1898 he was appointed Collector of the Internal Revenue in Albany by President McKinley. In addition he ran the Orchard Valley farm in Westerlo which had been in the family's for over a hundred years.
Marriage & Children
On May 18, 1870, John married Cecilia M. Keefer and they had at least two sons; G. E. Ward and J. H. Ward.

He lived in Ravena, Albany county, New York.
