Death
John H. Van Auken died April 20, 1920 in Berne, NY when he was hit by an auto a few days before when crossing the road near Fred Posson's store at West Berne, Albany county and died instantly from the injuries received, which were both legs broken, broken ribs, one of which penetrated his lungs, and other bruises about the body.[1]
