Birth
Mr. Gerry was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey on October 14, 1930, [1]a son of the late Joseph and Sophie Gerry[2] and was raised in East Berne, New York. [3]
Marriage and Children
William married Helen Orsini, a daughter of Tony and Olive Orsini at about 1965, and moved to Niskayuna[2] They had four daughters:
- Joyce Gerry
- Christine Gerry
- Kimberly Gerry
- Michelle Gerry
Occupation
Mr. Gerry entered and completed both the machinist apprentice training program and the turbine supervisory management training program at GE in Schenectady. He worked as a N/C systems specialist with the General Electric Co. for over 45 years, retiring in 1992.[3]

Mr. Gerry was a Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. . [3]

William died Saturday, October 5, 1996 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness. . [3]

Obituary NISKAYUNA -- William J. Gerry, 65, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness. Mr. Gerry was born in Bloomfield, NJ and was raised in East Berne, NY. He moved to Niskayuna in 1965. Mr. Gerry entered and completed both the machinist apprentice training program and the turbine supervisory management training program at GE in Schenectady. He worked as a N/C systems specialist with the General Electric Co. for over 45 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, Turbine Supervisors Association and Bowling League. The GE Apprentice Alumni Association, the GE Elfun Society. He was also a member of the Watervliet and Iroquois Rod and Gun Clubs. He was a Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Gerry was an avid bowler, hunter and gardiner. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Helen Orsini Gerry; four daughters, Joyce Gerry of Erie, PA, Christine Anderson of Niskayuna, Kimberly King of Schenectady and Michelle Gerry of Shrewsbury, MA and two sons-in-law, Aaron Anderson and Michael King; a sister, Elizabeth Moehle of Scotia; a brother, Frank Gerry of Altamont; several nieces and nephews. He was the son-in-law of Tony and Olive Orsini of Altamont. Son of the late Joseph and Sophie Gerry; brother of the late Joseph Gerry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, Grand St., Altamont. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne.
