Alvin Devereaux was born on September 14, 1791 a son of Theodore Devereaux and Hannah Moffatt.

Occupation

Alvin Devereaux was among the early business men in Rensselaerville.


Marriage & Children

On June 25, 1816 he married Melinda Cook. They had one child:

  • Melinda Devereaux

On February 9, 1820, he married Olivia Starkweather, a daughter of Asa Starkweather and Mary Robinson. She was born on October 22, 1794. Their children were:[1]

  • Alvin Devereaux, born November 16, 1820 in Preston Hollow
  • Olivia H. Devereaux born on September 8, 1822 in Preston Hollow
  • Horace Devereaux born on February 1, 1825 in Preston Hollow


Death

Alvin, Sr. died on November 7, 1825 and his second wife, Olivia, on February 8, 1872. Both are buried at Brookview Cemetery, Preston Hollow as is his first wife, Hannah.
