Birth

Gideon was born in Greenville, Greene Co., NY on October 12, 1839, a son of Stephen Hassell and Sarah Swartwout.

Marriage & Children

At about 1866, he married Susan Arnold and had the following known children:

  • Mary Alice Hassell born at about 1867 in New York
  • Sarah Ann Hassell born Aug 29, 1872 in Iowa
  • John Hassell born in 1875 in Iowa
  • Francis Adelbert Hassell born in 1878 in Iowa
  • William Hassell born in 1880 in Iowa

He, his brother, William and his family and his widowed mother, Sarah moved to Albion, Dane Co., WI.
