WESTERLO -- On August 31, 2001, after a long battle with cancer, Linda Jordan Bunzey lost her struggle. Linda is survived by her husband, Bruce of 32 years; two children, Bradley and Maureen Bunzey; grandmother Florence Carsno; her mother Elizabeth (Betty) Jordan; brother Bruce Jordan and daughter-in-law Anita Bunzey. Her father Donald Jordan predeceased her.
An award winning artist, Linda Jordan Bunzey, 51, born in North Adams MA, spent her life a resident of Westerlo. She was employed by Berne Knox Westerlo Schools as a Teacher's Aide and recently celebrated 20 years of service with the school. She was a member of the Tuesday night Sketchers with Stanly Maltzman, the Bethlehem Art Assn. and the Greene County Arts Council.
Early in her art career, Linda became skilled in the art of oil painting and completed several commissioned works. In 1999 her pastel painting, 'Mist Along the Hudson' was chosen by the National Pastel Society of New Mexico to be included in their National Exposition in Albuquerque. Linda has studied with professional artist Stanley Maltzman who is responsible for teaching her the love of pastels and the love of painting outdoors, 'en plein air.' In 1998 the New York State Fair in Syracuse selected her painting 'Nature's Jewel' for inclusion in the wildlife exhibition. Linda's acrylic painting 'A Time in History' was published in 'Bethlehem Revisited: A Bicentennial Story (1793-1993),' and was also printed in Albany International Airport's 'The Flyer,' which has a circulation of 10,000. Linda's works have also been published in the literary magazine, Pencrafts. Six Day Gallery in North Adams MA also represented Linda. Funeral service will be Thursday, 11 a.m. from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Donations in memoriam or honor of Linda may be made to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 13535, Albany NY 12212-3535. Information on Breast Cancer awareness may be obtained by contacting the Komen Foundation at 1-800-IM-AWARE.
