Birth

Hiram was born on August 17, 1813 in Knox, Albany Co., NY, a son of William Gage and Ruth Macomber. [1]


Marriage & Children

On June 21, 1832 he married Roba Hoag who was born on July 24, 1817[1]. They had the following children:

  • Julia Celestia Gage born on September 16, 1836, died on January 13, 1841
  • Mary E. Gage born on February 19, 1840, married Nicholas Winne[1]
  • Emily B. Gage born March 20, 1842, married Madison Finch[1]
  • Alonzo M. Gage born in 1844, died in 1844[1]
  • Ruth Helen Gage born in 1845, died in 1847[1]
  • Henrietta Gage born April 12, 1846, married John McClure[1]
  • Rufus M. Gage born August 2, 1847, married Sarah Christina Dietz[1]


At about 1859 Hiram married Marcy M. White who was born on February 10, 1830, a daughter of Jacob White and Mehatible Briggs[1]. Hiram and Marcy had the following known children:

  • Baron White Gage born March 10, 1860, married Delia Getman[1]
  • Alice C. Gage born July 9, 1861, married Boyd H. Baker[1]
  • Roba Frances Gage born July 12, 1863, married Calvin Osborn[1]
  • Nelson William Gage born September 10, 1864, married Rose H. Elliott[1]

Death

Roba died on January 2, 1858. Hiram died on July 11, 1870 in Knox. Both are buried at the Lee Church Cemetery in Knox. Mercy died on October 18, 1914 and was buried at the Quaker Grove Cemetery in Duanesburg, NY. [1]
