Birth

James was born on January 11, 1760 at Rahway, NJ, a son of Job Conger and Lydia Coddington. [1]

Marriage & Children

In 1784 he married Elizabeth McNab who was born in December of 1769[1]. They had the following known children:

  • Margaret Conger was born at about 1785, she married Ovid Chesebrough[1]
  • William Conger was born at about 1788, he married Katherine Follock[1]

Sometime between 1805 and 1809 he married Sarah Doty who was born in Connecticut on July 7, 1773, a daughter of Samuel and Mercy Doty. Sarah and James had the following known children:

  • Eliza Ann Conger who was born at about 1810
  • James Conger who was born at about 1812. [2]

After the death of James, Sarah married Deliverance Smith.

Death

Elizabeth died on February 17, 1805.[1]James died shortly before May 13, 1813 the date Sarah was appointed executrix of James's estate[3]. Sarah Doty Conger Smith died in Delaware County, NY on August 10, 1863 at the home of her son, James Conger[2]. She was buried at the Arabia Cemetery in Franklin, Delaware County, NY. [4]
