Birth
Ella Marjorie Kelley was born about 1890 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., daughter of the late Carl and Katherine Latham Kelley, and moved to Albany in 1938 and later to Colonie. She had lived in Knox since 1964.

Mrs. Hellwig was a telephone operator for New York Telephone for many years. She later was operator supervisor with New York Telephone and with AT&T in Albany.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in LOudonville, she worked extensively in genealogy and family history. She was also a member of New York Telephone Pioneers.

KNOX-Ella Marjorie Hellwig, 74 of Knox, died Tuesday at Villa Immaculate Nursing Home in Albany after a brief illness.
She was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., daughter of the late Carl and Katherine Latham Kelley, and moved to Albany in 1938 and later to Colonie. She had lived in Knox since 1964.
Mrs. Hellwig was a telephone operator for New York Telephone for many years. She later was operator supervisor with New York Telephone and with AT&T in Albany.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Loudonville, she worked extensively in genealogy and family history. She was also a member of New York Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include her husband, Willard B Hellwig Sr., daughter Marjorie Stevens, and son, Willard B Hellwig Jr., all of Knox; 11 grand children, Willard J. Hellwig of Orem, Utah, Eric Hellwig, Miner Stevens, Justin Stevens, Angela Hellwig, Amanda Hellwig, and Rebecca and Marjorie Stevens, all of Knox; Preston Stevens and Julie Stevens Leone, both of Schenectady; and Deborah Stevens McLaughlin of Richmondville (Schoharie CO.) and three great great granchildren - Erika, EMily, and Brian McLaughlin.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, on Loudon Road in Loudonville. Friends are invited, and may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road in Lathem. Burial was in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
