Ethel Kelly was born in Glens Falls on Oct. 22,1929, the daughter of the late William J. and Ethel Borden Kelly. Her brothers and sisters were:

  • Elizabeth K. Gibbs of Spartanburg, S.C.
  • Wilma K. and Robert Warner of East Berne, whose son was Chester W. Warner
  • William B. and Sandra Kelly of Dormansville
  • Patricia A. Kelly

Education

Occupation

Ethel Kelly was involved in many veterans' organization. She held several posts with the Auxiliary of Veterans of World War I: president of Auxiliary 717, president of Pennsylvania, and national president from 1994 to 1995.

She was also a member of American Legion Post 261 in Beaver Falls, Pa. a representative on the state's veterans' commission, and a member of the Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. She was a member and greeter of the Beaver United Methodist Church, and a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

Death

Ethel K. Davis

Ethel Kelly Davis, 74, who raised her family in East Berne, died on Dec. 4, 2003 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

"Her big interest was her family," said her son, Rev. C. William 'Bud' Davis. "A lot of the time, we came home from school and she had fresh baked goods."

Mr. Davis enjoyed her fresh-baked cinnamon buns. Mrs. Davis was born in Glens Falls on Oct. 22,1929, the daughter of the late William B. and Ethel Borden Kelly. She was involved in many veterans' organization. She held several posts with the Auxiliary of Veterans of World War I: president of Auxiliary 717, president of Pennsylvania, and national president from 1994 to 1995.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John I. Davis; four daughters, Catherine D. and Lance Buchardt of Collinsville, Va., Joanne M. Davis of Augusta, Ga, Ruth Ann and Karl Kaleauti of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kimberly Tomasko of Beaver Falls, Pa.; a son, Rev. Davis and his wife, Martha Davis, of Altamont; two sisters; Elizabeth K. Gibbs of Spartanburg, S.C., and Wilma K. and Robert Warner of East Berne; a brother, William B. and Sandra Kelly of Dormansville; nine granddaughters, two grandsons, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents and sister, Patricia A. Kelly died before her. Services were held in Beaver, Pa and she will be buried in the Beaver Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaver United Methodist Church, 345 College Ave, Beaver, PA. 15009, or to the Veterans of World War I, care of G. Stanford, 1236 Monroe Place, Williamsport, PA. 17701.
