Daniel was born in New Baltimore, Greene Co., NY on October 31, 1833, a son of Henry Burlingham and Mary Ayrault. His family left Greene County before 1850.

He married Amanda ______ who was born at about 1835 in Schoharie County, NY at about 1859 and had two children:

  • Estelle Burlingham who was born in Greene County
  • Daniel Burlingham who was born in Albany County
