Alexander was born in Rensselaerville, NY in June of 1844, a son of William Fox and Elizabeth Williams

Alexander never married.
His Life
Alexander left New York state and went to Yountville, California after his disability discharge. In 1871 he applied for and received a pension for his Civil War service.
On several occasions, he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Veterans at Sawtelle, California. He died there on June 29, 1922 of apoplexy.

Death
Alexander died on November 30, 1924 at Napa, California.[4] He was buried at the Veterans Memorial Grove, formerly Veterans Home Cemetery at Yountville, Napa County California.
