ALTAMONT: Elsie May, 96,104 Lark St., Altamont died Oct. 31 (1990) in the Guilderland Center Nursing Home.
She was born in the Town of Knox, the eldest of six girls, to Cerena Stafford Van Benschoten and Jessie Van Benschoten. She was married to Jacob May on January 1912. They lived on the Bozenskill Road, Town of Knox, until 1925, when they moved to Lark Street. Mrs. May was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church and the Laurel Band.
Widow of Jacob May, she is survived by two daughters, Jennie Meineker and Pearl Kelley, both of Altamont. She is also survived by two grandsons, John Meineker of Newtown, Pa. and Paul Meineker of Altamont; three great-granddaughters — Mary Jo Adkins and Kelly Smith, both of Georgia, and Susan Meineker of Altamont, Dorothy Smith, Gladys Van Benschoten and Frances Hogan, all of Guilderland.
Services were held at the Fredendall Funeral Home Saturday, Nov. 3. Rev. Robert Luidens officiated. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery Altamont.
