Jacob was born in Albany County, NY on February 15, 1798, a son of Peter Van Auken [1]and Sarah Kipp. His known siblings were:

At about 1819, Jacob married Elizabeth Sitterly who was born at about 1799 in Knox, a daughter of Jacob Sitterly and Apolonia Countryman[1]. Their known children were:

Jacob died on January 15, 1868 in Knox and was buried in the Van Auken Family burial ground there. [1]Elizabeth died on February 6, 1893 and was buried beside her husband. [1]
