Birth
John Furman was born in October 1766 Newtown, Queens Co., New York.
Marriage and Children
He possibly married Elizabeth Gifford though not proven, about 1790 in Middletown, Ulster Co., New York. They emigrated to Berne and are probably, though not proven, the parents of the the following children;
- James Furman (1792-1842)
- Delila Furman (1794-)
- Hannah Furmam (1799-)
- Sally Furman (>1800-)
- Robert Furman (1803-1868)
- John Furman *2 (1806-1879)
- William Furman (1806->1887).
These children are siblings, proven in a letter to Joseph Furman, written by William in 1884.
Occupation
John was a farmer and appears on the 1866 Beers map on Lot 444, maybe Lot 429.
Death
He died about 1830 in Berne and is buried with Elizabeth in Gifford Hollow Burying Ground.
