Birth
Oliver Doty was born September 6, 1814 in Berne, Albany County, NY to Lazarus Doty (B. Oct 11, 1789, D. July 26, 1867) and his first wife Elizabeth Fanning (B. abt 1793, D. 1842).[1]

Oliver was a farmer by trade.
Marriage & Children
On September 8, 1839, Oliver married Matilda Randall (B. March 25, 1820) in Sweden, Monroe County, NY.[1]
They had the following children:

- Ira Randall Doty[1]
- Flora Agnes Doty[1]
- Mary Louisa Doty[1]
Life
Oliver was born in Berne, but within the first two years of his life, his parents moved first to Cayuga County, NY and then to Sweden, Montgomery County, NY. It was in Sweden that Oliver married when he was in his mid twenties. At that time, he and his wife with several of his siblings moved to Clinton County, Michigan. They settled in the town of Eagle, where their children were born. Oliver was a farmer by trade, but held the positions of Justice of the Peace for 36 years and also as town supervisor. Clinton County, Michigan was a common location for former residents of Albany County, NY. While living in Clinton County, Oliver held a mortgage for Joab Baker.[2]
