Birth

John was born on August 21, 1836, a son of William Hotaling and Hannah Brate.

Marriage & Children

On July 5, 1862, John married Fedilia Saddlemire who was born on March 8, 1845, a daughter of Peter Saddlemire and Diadma Young. Their children:

  • John R. Hotaling born July 3, 1863
  • Edgar Hotaling born March 16, 1864
  • Isabel Hotaling born February 12, 1869
  • Wallace or Walter Hotaling born November 4, 1871

Fedilia died on September 23, 1873 and John married secondly on May 12, 1875, Mary H. Castle, who was born on March 5, 1853, a daughter of John Castle and Lydia Cornwell. They had one child, Harriet Hotaling, born January 18, 1881.
