Birth
Peter was born at about 1784 in Knox[1]
Occupation
He was a farmer.[1] He was also a shoemaker.[2]
Militia
He was a prominent and active member of the State militia, in which he took great pride and spent considerable money,being an officer in a company of cavalry. His son, Peter Young, Jr., was also a member of the militia[1]
Marriage & Children
Peter married first, Diadema [3] Toles [1], a daughter of Titus Tolles and Mary Blakeslee[3] at about 1800.
By his first wife Peter had had six sons and four daughters[1]

His first wife died sometime between 1840 and 1844,[3]and he married secondly, Mary Havens[3] Bunsy[1], a daughter of Daniel Havens and Phebe Galway[3], by whom

Death
Peter died in 1864. He was buried in Knox, presumably on his property. In 1874 his remains were removed and buried at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
