Birth

Johannes Dietz was born on May 10, 1752 at Schoharie, a son of William Dietz and Dorothea Wanner. [1] His siblings were:

  • Maria Elizabetha Dietz b. at about 1745, married Hendrick Ball
  • Peter W. Dietz b. August 19, 1748, married Maria Sidnig
  • William Dietz b. December 6, 1749, married Margaretha Bergh
  • Adam W Dietz b. April 18, 1755, married Margaret Reinhart
  • Eva Dietz b. July 1, 1758, married Abraham Lawyer
  • Dietz, Johan Jost b. September 19, 1760, married Eva Hilts

Marriage and Children

Johannes married on October 6, 1773 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Schoharie, Maria Enders who was born on February 6, 1746, a daughter of William Enders and Elizabetha Margaretha Knieskern[1]. They had the following known children:

  • Peter J. Deitz b. October 1, 1781
  • Margaret Dietz b. August 26, 1787
  • Janet Dietz b. October 1, 1790, married John C. Bouck
  • Elisabeth Dietz b. July 19, 1792

Military

Johannes was a Lieutenant who served in Colonel Peter Vrooman’s regiment out of Schoharie. His name appears on payroll lists in his regiment into 1784, but records were lost that would show when he entered the service and when he was discharged.

Death

The exact dates of death for Johannes and his wife are not known.
