Birth

Samuel Lawton was born in Keele, Safford, England February 15 1795. His parents were John Lawton and Anna Humphrey. His sister was Sarah Lawton (Mrs. (Peter Turner) of West Mountain, Berne NY.

Education

He probably had at least elementary school education

Occupation

He was a farmer.

Marriage & Children

He is listed in the 1850 census in Rensselaerville, Albany NY with his wife Sarah and their children:

  • Alfred-21
  • Priscilla-16
  • Marianna-15
  • Marilla-14
  • Alban-9

He can also be found in the 1830 and 1840 censuses and in the 1860 census with Sarah, Marilla and a hired hand in Rensselaerville. Most of the children, if not all, were born in Rensselaerville. The Turner children called him Uncle Samuel Lawton. The Turner's sometimes spent Christmas with the Lawton's. Alfred and Richard Turner traveled to Wisconsin together to establish a farm there. Eventually Alfred stayed on the farm in Wisconsin while Richard returned to Berne.>

Death

He and Sarah probably died before 1870
