Birth
Charles Lewis was born at East Hampton, NY on July 1, 1786, a son of Matthew Mulford and Mary Hutchinson.[1]
Occupation
He was a manufacturer and merchant. He was made a Justice and elected supervisor of his town for several years, always a man of sterling integrity and highly esteemed by his townsmen.
Marriage and Children
On June 25, 1816, Charles married Mille, born in MA on June 3, 1791, a daughter of Robert Cook and Deborah. Children, all born in Rensselaerville.[1]
- Mary H. Mulford, born April 10, 1817; married Andrew Palmer, September 22, 1836.
- Robert Mulford, born September 15 ,1819; died February 3, 1821.
- Robert L. Mulford, born October 24, 1821; married first, Henrietta Lester on December 14, 1846, who died on April 5, 1853; married second, Ellen M. Morgan Stone, a widow, on June 6, 1860.
- Lucia H. Mulford, born May 10, 1824; married George W. Rider on September 10, 1856.
- Charles W. Mulford, born February 5, 1827; married Deborah Wickes, August 17, 1853.
- Millecent Mulford, born December 23, 1830; died on October 29, 1834.
- Harriet P. Mulford, born on april 14, 1834, died unmarried in 1879.
Military
Charles, at the age of 28 was a commissioned officer in a NY State Regiment stationed at Sackett’s Harbor during the last war with England. He returned with honor to his home in Albany County.[1]
Death
He died on May 28, 1857 at Rensselaerville, his wife died on February 19, 1875.[1]
