Birth

Ira Cannaday was born on April 7, 1824 to James Cannaday (B. Feb 19, 1794, D. Mar 26, 1858) and Maria Rachel Post (B. Oct 21, 1796, D. after June 2, 1821).[1] He was a middle child of five.[1]

Marriage & Children

On September 12, 1848 in Rensselaerville, Ira married Sarah Catherine Crane who was born March 25, 1830 to Nathaniel Crane and Anna Bigsby.[1]

Death

Ira Cannaday died on April 2, 1865 in Petersburg, Va. of a rifle ball in a charge at Fort Mahone.[1]

After his death his wife remarried on February 17, 1866 Thomas Vaugh (B. Mar 7, 1829, D. Aug 5, 1888).[1] She survived her second husband and died on March 10, 1909 in Manawa, Waupaca Co, Wi.[1]
