Birth

Alexander Smith was born in Preston Hollow, Albany County, NY in about 1845.[1]

Alexander was born at Potters Hollow, Albany County, NY on July 2, 1848, a son of Alfred Smith and Abigail Jackson.[2]

Marriage & Children

He married Jemima Richmond at about 1867 and moved to Greene County where they lived out their lives. They had the following known children of seven that were born to them:

  • Edith Smith
  • Charles Smith
  • James Smith
  • Joseph Smith

Jemima died and Alexander remarried in 1907 to Anna____ a widow who was born in New Jersey at about 1855.

Occupation

Before he served in the Civil War, Alexander worked as a laborer.[1]
