Birth

Walter was born in the Town of Rensselaerville on November 16, 1921, son of the late Walter J. and Kittie (Gillespie) Pearson Sr.[1]


Occupation

Pete was a retired carpenter having worked for New York State and was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local Union #370 in Albany, New York.[1]


Military Service

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army and being discharged as a Staff Sergeant.[1]


Death

Mr. Pearson passed away suddenly at the Albany Medical Center on November 6, 2000.[1]


Burial

Interment will be in the Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, New York on November 9, 2000.[1]

ALBANY -- Walter J. `Pete` Pearson, Jr., 79, of Albany, NY, formerly of Rensselaerville, NY, passed away suddenly at the Albany Medical Center on November 6, 2000. He was born in the Town of Rensselaerville on November 16, 1921, son of the late Walter J. and Kittie (Gillespie) Pearson Sr. Pete was a retired carpenter having worked for New York State and was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local Union #370 in Albany, NY. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army and being discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He received the American Campaign Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Rensselaerville, NY, a Charter and Life Member of the Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Co., the Rensselaerville Gun Club, the NYS Sheriff's Association, the American Legion Post #589 in Preston Hollow, NY and was a member of the Cascade Lodge #427 F. & A.M. in Oak Hill, NY. Surviving are two nieces, Joan Keppler and Janice Slingerland and three cousins, Ellen Smith, Philip Pearson and Everett Pearson. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Pearson. Funeral service will be Thursday 11 a.m. from the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. The Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Co. will conduct services at the funeral home on Wednesday evening 8:00. Interment will be in the Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
