Birth

Reuben King was born on March 22, 1765 at Rochester, Plymouth County MA, the son of Consider King and Sarah Palmer.

Military

While residing in Claverack, NY he enlisted in May of 1780 as a private in Captain Walter Vrooman’s Compay of Colonel John Harper’s New York Regiment and was discharged the latter part of November of 1780. All of his service was as a guard at Johnstown and Fort Stanwix.

Marriage & Children

On November 26, 1789 at the Presbyterian Church in Greenville, Greene Co., NY he married Betsey Frisbee who was born in 1767 in NY, a daughter of Benjamin Frisbee and Margaret Holly. Their known children:

  • Rufus King born in 1791
  • Sally King born in 1794
  • Consider King born in 1797
  • Levi King born in 1799, was a doctor, died in Greene County in 1876
  • Margaret King born in 1804, died in Rensselaerville in 1831
  • Reuben King born in 1807, died in Florida in 1831
  • Hawley King born in 1809

Death

Betsey died prior to May 8, 1845 when Reuben wrote his will. Reuben died on September 1, 1849 at Rensselaerville.
