21st Illinois Infantry
- Charles West a native of Berne who went to Illinois and enlisted in the 21st IL Infantry Company C where he was stricken with disease and was discharged for that disability on February 18, 1864 . He returned home after his discharge and died on July 22, 1864 as a result of that disease. He was survived by his parents and one sister.
