THEODORE SETTLE

On Sunday, January 20, 1929, after a brief illness, Theodore Settle passed from, mortal life into immortality. Mr. Settle was born in the Settle homestead on February 24, 1846, the son of Jacob Settle and Cornelia Walden, the youngest in a family of twelve children. Of these he was the last survivor.

Quiet and unassuming in manner, Mr. Settle had little taste for adventure, and his life was lived in the peaceful routine of a country village "remote front towns." His sterling
character, his gentle dignity and refined personality marked him as one distinguished among his associates.

When an older brother removed to the city, Mr. Settle purchased the general store business in which they had been associated; and for many years he conducted this enterprise with signal success. He was also post master for some years.

The village mourns the loss of an honored citizen; and the Reformed church, where he was for years member, will keenly miss his loyal interest, unfailing and intelligent devotion, and generous support.
