Samuel married Ruth Tompkins, a daughter of another early settler of Coeymans. At about 1830, they removed to Rensselaerville . Their child:

Samuel Niles died at Rensselaerville in 1891, his wife, Ruth, died there in 1893. <ref name="Landmarks"/>
