==Birth==
Apollos Moore was born in Hartford County, CT at about 1765 a son of Joseph Moore and Hannah Phelps

==Military==
While a resident of Pittsfield, MA, he enlisted on January 1, 1781, served as a private, Corporal, and Sergeant in Captain Ebenezer Smith's Company of Colonel Michael Jackson's Massachusetts Regiment, was in frequent skirmishses and was discharged on August 11, 1783.

==Marriage & Children==
He married his first wife at about 1789. Her name has not been learned . Their known children:

*Elizabeth Moore, wife of Caleb Tompkins born about 1800, died 1839
*Maria Moore, wife of Theodore Foster born about 1804
*Robert H.C. Moore
*Elmira Moore, wife of Judson Conklin born about 1806

*Otis A.I. Moore
On May 26, 1824 at Windham in Greene County, New York he married Deborah Stone who was born in 1789 in Windham, believed to be a daughter of Abijah Stone and Experience Stinson and the first child born in Windham. Their children:
*George Stone Moore born 1826
*Albert Tuthill Moore born 1827
*Jerome Moore born about 1830
*Chester Moore

==His life==
After settling in Rensselaerville, he became a justice of the peace, supervisor, and finally a judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Albany county, which last office he held until he was seventy years old.

==Death==
His first wife died at about 1823 in Rensselaerville. Her burial was very likely in the Rensselaerville Cemetery. He died on January 15, 1841 also in Rensselaerville and his burial took place at the Rensselaerville Cemetery. Deborah or Debby as she preferred, died on April 15, 1857 at Rensselaerville. She was buried beside Apollos.

Chapter XIX 
The Town of Rensselaerville 
This town derived its name from the first Patroon, Stephen Van Rensselaer, to whom a charter or grant of land, known as Rensselaerwyck, embracing, with other lands, the county of Albany, was made in the year 1630. 
The first settler in Rensselaerville was Apollos Moore, a veteran of the Revolutionary war, who immigrated from Pittsfield, Mass., and settled upon a piece of land about two miles east of the site of the present village of Rensselaerville. 
He came on foot, while his wife rode a horse (which cost five dollars) and carried all their goods. 
Mr. Moore became a leading citizen, was a justice of the peace, supervisor, and finally a judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Albany county, which last office he held until he was seventy years old. 
He was a man of marked character, of much learning, and made an able judge. 
 
 

Apollos More, from Pittsfield, Mass., settled about two miles east of Rensselaerville, in 1785. He came on foot, while his wife rode a horse which cost five dollars, and carried all their property. Mr. Moore afterwards became justice of the peace, supervisor, and finally first Judge of the county, an office which he held until he was nearly seventy years olf. He had a store at his farm, and a large mill in the village. He was a soldier of the Revolution, having enlisted when he was sixteen and served till the close of the war.
