Jesse Jones of Pine Park passed away on May 21, 1981 at St. Clare's Hospital where he had been a patient for the past several weeks.

A lifelong resident of Berne, except for a few retirement years in Averill Park, he was born September 10, 1890, the son of the late Ackland and Sarah Jones, and was the husband of the late Robie Wright Jones and the late Margaret Jansen Jones. He had been a self-employed farmer and also a school bus driver for the [[Berne-Knox-Westerlo|Berne-Knox-Westerlo]] School District, retiring at the age of 72. He was a member of [[St. Paul's Lutheran Church|St. Paul's Lutheran Church]], a 40 year member of Berne Lodge F & A M No. 684, a charter member of Foxenkill Grange No. 1579, and also a member of the Berne Volunteer Fire Department and the Berne Conservation Club.

Jesse Jones was the father of Mrs. Rosemary DeOrio of Rotterdam Junction and Mrs. Clement (Sarah) Hulick of Berne and the late Robert Jones and brother of Ada Lendrum and Howard Jones of Berne. Brothers and sisters who predeceased him are Minnie Jones Cowan, Edna Jones Shultz, and Avray, Edwin, and Charles Jones. He is survived by 11 grandchildren - Robert M. Jones of Scotia, Mrs. James (Patricia) Boyle of Virginia, Mrs. Ted (Kathleen) Gray of Rochester; Janet Leigh DeOrio of Geneva; Mrs. WIlliam (Nancy) Hughes of Burnt Hills; Thomas DeOrio of Rotterdam; Wayne Porter of El Paso, Texas; Phyllis Andrione of Guilderland; James Porter of Albany; and Edward Porter of East Berne. And also 12 great grandchildren - Lisa, Brian, and Steven Jones of Scotia; Julie Gray of Rochester, John DeOrio of Geneva; Julie Ann and Laurie Beth Hughes of Burnt Hills; Tammie, Jessie, and Kenneth Porter of Elpaso; Monica Bouton of Guilderland; and Joshua Porter of East Berne, and many nieces and nephemws.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Berne Lutheran Church with his Pastor Rev. Janice Jenson, officiating. Burial was in [[Woodlawn Cemetery|Woodlawn Cemetery]], Fredendall Home officiating.
