==Birth==
Norman was a son of Lloyd B. Gifford and Martha, and was born at about 1839 at Rensselaerville. <ref name="1865 census">1865 census, Rensselaerville, Albany Co., NY</ref>

==Marriage & Children==
He married at about 1872 in Tompkins County, Anna, the daughter of H.C. and Elizabeth Woodworth, who was born at about 1851. They had two children, Elizabeth and Lloyd.

==His Life==
He was a druggist and was unmarried at the time of his enlistment<ref name="1865 census"/>. After the war, he removed to Ulysses, Tompkins County and continued in his trade. <ref name="1870 census">1870 census, Ulysses, Tompkins Co., NY</ref>
