==Military==
Jacobus served in the Colonel Peter Vrooman Regiment of Schoharie. His name appears on the list of bounties paid to the officers of Vrooman’s Regiment for March 21, 1782 that were paid in November of 1782. He apparently served 8 months in the war.
==Marriage and Children==
On April 3, 1781 he married Anna Elisabeth Ecker at the Schoharie Lutheran Church,Schoharie. She was born on September 1, 1760, a daughter of Peter and Elisabeth Rickert Ecker<ref name="Bernehistory"/>. They had the following known children:
