He was for several years engaged in the sale of stove shelves and Horton's washing machines and also the livery business in Illinois, but his principal occupation is farming.[1]

In 1869, <ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"/>Eugene married Augusta M. Lounsbury<ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"/>, a daughter of Williams Lounsbury<ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"/> and Mary Marilla Reeve. They had three children. <ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"/> They had four known children:
*Alice M. Cook<ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"/> (1870-1950) wife of Charles Mackey[1]
*Gracia Cook<ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"/> (1872-1945)

Eugene died in 1926. He was buried with Augusta and their infant in Medusa Cemetery in Medusa.
