==Birth==
James was born on January 11, 1760 at Rahway, NJ, a son of Job Conger and Lydia Coddington. <ref name="Bernehistory">bernehistory.org</ref>

==Marriage & Children==
In 1784 he married Elizabeth McNab who was born in December of 1769<ref name="Bernehistory">bernehistory.org</ref>. They had the following known children:
*Margaret Conger was born at about 1785, she married Ovid Chesebrough<ref name="Bernehistory"/>
*William Conger was born at about 1788, he married Katherine Follock<ref name="Bernehistory"/> <br>
Sometime between 1805 and 1809 he married Sarah Doty who was born in Connecticut on July 7, 1773, a daughter of Samuel and Mercy Doty. Sarah and James had the following known children:
* Eliza Ann Conger who was born at about 1810
*James Conger who was born at about 1812. <ref name="1855 Census">1855 Census, Hamden, Delaware Co., NY, page 19, line 27</ref><br>

Elizabeth died on February 17, 1805.<ref name="Bernehistory">bernehistory.org</ref>James died shortly before May 13, 1813 the date Sarah was appointed executrix of James's estate<ref name="Letter of Administration">Albany County NY Letters of Administration, Book 3, page 54</ref>. Sarah Doty Conger Smith died in Delaware County, NY on August 10, 1863 at the home of her son, James Conger<ref name="1855 Census">1855 Census, Hamden, Delaware Co., NY, page 19, line 27</ref>.
