==Birth==
Henry Arthur Ball was born on December 9, 1844, on a farm in the Switzkill Valley in Berne, Albany County, NY. His parents were [[Robert Ball]] (Jan.9, 1809-Sept. 11, 1893) and [[Anna Barbara Dietz]] (Oct. 17, 1815-Oct.16, 1897). His grandparents were [[John Peter Ball]] and [[Elisabeth Bogardus]].
==Marriage & Children==
Henry was married to Caroline "Callie" Powers before 1870. They had one child:
*Winfred A. Ball, born in March 1871. Married 16 May 1899 to Lura Pearl Bowes. Died 14 Nov. 1925 St. Paul, MN.

Callie died February 16, 1876. Following her death, Henry married before 1 June 1880 again to Jennie (b.abt. 1851 Ohio - d. aft. 1930).

==Occupations==
Henry was a farmer before the Civil War.<ref name="Carnival">Keating, Robert, [[Carnival of Blood|Carnival of Blood]]: The Civil War Ordeal of the Seventh New York Heavy Artillery, Published by Butternut and Blue, Baltimore, Md 1998</ref>After the Civil War,Henry moved to the mid-west. He became a photographer in Grafton, ND. While he lived his adult life in the midwest, he often visited the family farm in the Switzkill Valley.

Henry A. Ball and J. O. Rindahl were partners in Ball & Rindahl Studio, Grafton, North Dakota, in 1890; a partner in Ball, Dix & Mead, Ft. Randall, Dakota Territory. The association with Dix and Mead would have been prior to 1890 as the Dakota Territory was divided into the states of North Dakota and South Dakota on November 2, 1889.[http://www.shadesofthedeparted.com/2008_08_01_archive.html web site]
